How Does an LED Steering Wheel Work?

Most LED steering wheels read vehicle data through an OBD II connection or a dedicated control module. The OBD II system allows the steering wheel to receive real-time vehicle information, such as RPM and speed.

Once the data is received, the steering wheel system converts it into visual feedback. For example, when the RPM rises, the LED lights on the steering wheel will light up step by step. When the engine reaches the set shift point, the LED lights may flash to remind the driver to shift.

Advanced systems, such as the TDD Motors Galaxy Pro II LED Steering Wheel System, can also support multiple UI themes, dynamic display effects, and app-connected functions, giving drivers more customization options.

This is what makes an LED steering wheel different from a normal carbon fiber steering wheel. It does not only upgrade the look of the cockpit. It also adds real driving interaction.
